our SHORT films

Victor Nieuwenhuijs and Maartje Seyferth's collection of short films is a masterclass in visual storytelling.

From the surreal landscapes of "Address to the Landscape" to the poetic exploration of everyday life in "On Sunday", each film offers a unique perspective on the human experience.

Collaborations with artists and performers add depth and dimension to the storytelling, enriching the narrative with layers of meaning and emotion.

In "Movimenti Cantabili", mime artist Will Spoor brings silent expression to life, while "A Day Lasting a Thousand Years" weaves a tapestry of visual artistry in partnership with painter Geurt van Dijk.

The stark monochrome imagery of "Der Feldzug" offers a haunting reflection on the themes of war and memory, leaving a lasting impression on viewers long after the credits roll.

Der Feldzug

  • ABOUT

1993 - A film-poem based on authentic wartime newsreels, abstracting war acts and dissociating them from time and place.

Referencing Armando's theme of "The Guilty Landscape"

  • DETAILS

    Duration: 9 minutes

    Format: 35 mm

    Color: Black and White

    Language: Dutch

  • MORE INFORMATION

This nine-minute-long film-poem must be part of my body of works", Armando says. It was already an extensive oeuvre as it was: Armando paints, writes, sculptures, acts, and makes music. Above all, he is living in Berlin. This city, Germany in general and the prolonged effect of World War II play a central role in Armando's work. DER FELDZUG is based on authentic footage from wartime newscasts. However, the images have been distorted to such an extent that they can hardly be recognised. What is intended is an abstract rendition of war acts, dissociated from time and place. Self-recorded shots from today complement the existing material. Armando was already acquainted with Victor Nieuwenhuijs and Maartje Seyferth through an earlier project, the documentary armando, which participated in the IDFA competition programme in 1990.
